One of the great things about poems is that they are so adaptable & lend themselves so easily to being translated into other mediums. I have been lucky to have lots of mine put to great use by other people & turned into songs, short film scripts, performance texts and so on.
Following my poems’ many journeys in the world is one of the many satisfactions of being a poet.
And it’s even cooler when the adaptation is adapted – ongoing metamorphoses! Christy Moore made a song out of my poem Lost Tribe of The Wicklow Mountains for his 2016 album Lily.
That was exciting enough! But then world-class Mountain Runner Pádraig Ó Laoghaire fell in love with the song while running in The Wicklow Mountains & went on to use it in the soundtrack of two short films about – guess what! – running in The Wicklow Mountains.
Since then the two gorgeous little films have become very popular with both critics & punters and are shown at film festivals all over, as below, have been made official selections for the long-running Mountain Film Festival.
By the way I have hundreds of poems suitable for songs, soundtracks, scripts etc etc & – email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to collaborate!
